Issue Brief 10-48
December 3, 2010
Summary

On June 16, 2009, the Department of Transportation (DOT), the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced an interagency collaborative effort called the Partnership for Sustainable Communities (Partnership). This initiative promotes coordination among the agencies to more efficiently invest public funding and help communities become more economically successful and environmentally sustainable. As a part of the Partnership, these agencies have awarded new funding to states and communities, as well as implemented joint policy shifts and other collaborative efforts. This brief focuses on the new funding, for which the three agencies jointly evaluated applications, and covers the most significant agency-level policy changes.
